It selectively kills colorectal cancer cells with two common mutations. A new study published in Science presents evidence that perhaps some of the apparently extravagant ideas about vitamin C were not completely off base. The study in question examined human colorectal cancers containing specific genetic mutations that are found in up to half of these cancers. These cells ended up drawing in so much vitamin C that it caused their death.
The new action-cam add-on takes the wiggle out of your adventure footage The SteadXP plugs into the back of a GoPro (Hero2 and higher) and records all the movement your camera makes while filming (there’s also a different version for DSLRs). When it comes time to download your footage, plug the SteadXP into your computer and the device communicates with the desktop software, relaying all that movement info and telling the software where to smooth things out.

A team of surgeons at New York University’s Langone Medical Center has carried out the world’s most extensive face transplant, with the medical school’s dean Robert Grossman calling the operation “a major milestone and [a] critically important contribution to the advancement of science and medicine,” as reported by the Guardian. A 41-year-old firefighter from Mississippi suffered dramatic and severe facial injuries when a collapsing, burning roof fell on him and melted through his mask back in 2001. Earlier this year, the man, called Patrick Hardison, was admitted to the New York medical center where he was to be given the face of a brain-dead man called David Rodebaugh, a 26-year-old Brooklynite who was left in a vegetative state after a major cycling accident.
